Online casinos in Maryland: what the law says
Maryland licenses retail and mobile sports wagering, online casinos are not legal, and the state regulator has sent cease-and-desist orders to sweepstakes casino operators.
No licensed online casino in Maryland
Maryland's regulator lists online casinos as not legal. Two Maryland Lottery and Gaming (MLGCA) sources were combined. The licensee list PDF (updated 14 Sept 2026, linked from https://www.mdgaming.com/maryland-sports-wagering/) gives class 'M' Mobile Sports Wagering Licensee entity names, launch dates and closure dates. The August 2026 monthly data file (https://www.mdgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/August-2026-Sports-Wagering-Data.xlsx, linked from the Aug 2026 revenue release) gives the MOBILE licensees that actually reported handle. Only mobile licensees with non-zero August 2026 handle are listed here. Excluded as closed or dormant: Crab Sports Inc. (closed 7/20/2026), Long Shot's LLC (closed 7/14/24), SBOpco, LLC d/b/a SuperBook (closed 7/19/24), 'Riverboat on the Potomac / Pointsbet (M)' (zero handle), plus BetR MD and WSI US, LLC d/b/a WynnBet (withdrew) and Queen Sportsbook Maryland LLC (surrendered). IMPORTANT: MLGCA labels several mobile sportsbooks by licensee rather than by consumer brand, so 'Bingo World (mobile)', 'Greenmount OTB (mobile)', 'Hollywood Casino (mobile)', 'Live! Casino (mobile)', 'Maryland Stadium Sub (mobile)' and 'Veterans Services' are the regulator's own wording, not the app name. The regulator does separately list Online Sports Wagering Operator (class 'OO') partners on page 3 of the licensee PDF: Bally's Interactive, LLC; BetMGM, LLC d/b/a Roar Digital; RSI MD, LLC (parent Rush Street Interactive); iGaming Cloud Inc. (GiG); Crown MD Online Gaming LLC d/b/a DraftKings; American Wagering, Inc. (parent Caesars Entertainment); Parx Interactive Maryland Inc. (parent Greenwood Racing); BetFred Sports (Maryland), LLC d/b/a BetFred; FBG Enterprises Opco, LLC d/b/a Fanatics Sportsbook; Penn Sports Interactive, LLC (parent PENN Entertainment); Betfair Interactive US LLC d/b/a FanDuel Sportsbook; Queen Sportsbook Maryland LLC; Bet365; SBOpco, LLC d/b/a SuperBook; Bee-Fee LLC; WSI US, LLC d/b/a WynnBet. MLGCA does not publish a single table pairing each live app brand to its mobile licensee, so no brand-to-licensee pairing beyond what the documents state has been inferred.
Sports betting is live: the regulator lists 11 online sportsbooks, among them DraftKings, Caesars, BetMGM, bet365.
Sweepstakes casinos are banned in Maryland, so none are listed here. No crypto casino we track accepts US players by its own terms either — 41 of 46 name the United States on their restricted lists.
